Specific Instructional Objectives
The pupil,
(a)              Recognises the title of the poem
(b)             Knows the value of positive thoughts
(c)              Comprehends the content of the poem
(d)             Identifies assonance (repetition of the vowel sounds in
the same line) in the line, ‘Don’t give up, though pace seems slow,
(e)              Enjoys the rhyming words in every two lines such as    ‘will-uphill’, ‘high-sigh’, ‘bit-quit’,
(f)               Develops good values
(g)              Understands the meaning of the words: trudging, uphill, debts, sign, quit
(h)             Reads the poem loudly with correct pronunciation and rhythm
(i)                Recalls the parallel lines from his/her mother-tongue

(j)                Summarizes the poem
